CCCC trustees vote to uphold termination of former VP

Following an executive session to discuss non-elected personnel, the Cloud County Community College board of trustees voted 5-1 to uphold the termination of former vice president of affairs and advancement Kim Reynolds during a special meeting on Thursday morning.

The board, along with college president Dr. Adrian Douglas, college attorney Justin Ferrell and human resources director Chris Wilson met in executive session with Reynolds and her attorney, Jennifer Hill, of McDonald Tinker PA, Wichita.

A motion to uphold the termination was approved 5-1 following the 45-minute executive session.

Larry Henry voted against the motion.

Board president Greg Askren said the vote to uphold the termination was necessary as part of the appeal process.

The board, during a special meeting on August 13, voted 4-2 to terminate the employment and/or employment contract of Reynolds effective that day.

Henry and Greg Askren cast opposing votes.

Askren said he voted to approve the motion on Thursday to help move the process along.

So we can get this settled,” Askren said.

Reynolds has been the vice president of student affairs and academic advancement since June 2016. Prior to that she had served as an admissions counselor, director of admissions, director of the Foundation and interim vice president of student services and enrollment management..

During a special meeting earlier this month, Reynolds and Hill met in executive session for 30 minutes with the board.
