CCHC to make special announcement Monday

Cloud County Health Center will make a special announcement about the possible construction of a new medical facility during an event at the Broadway Plaza at 9 a.m. Monday.
Following a four-month master facility planning, CCHC administrator David Garnas announced that the construction of a new 74,000 square-foot medical facility on College Drive was being proposed.
All patient services, including 14 patient beds, would be located on the main level of the building.
The facility would include a walk-out lower level that would include the dining room and dietary services, administrative offices, a conference room and more.
In December 2018, the CCHC board of trustees, in conjunction with Salina Regional Health Center, initiated the master facility planning.
TreanorHL was hired to develop the master facility plan.
Brack & Associates Consulting Engineers, PA, and Cumming Corporation also provided input on the project.
The hospital board, administration, department heads and a community group were involved in the process.
The findings of the review team did not support the continued use of the current four-story CCHC facility, that was opened in 1951 as a 150-bed facility, for acute care and outpatient care functions.
Once it was determined that the construction of a new facility was the best long-term solution, the process of selecting a site was started.
Three potential sites were evaluated, including the current location, a property to the south of Walmart and the site along College Drive in the South Development that is owned by the city of Concordia.
The site selected on College Drive is an eight-acre parcel of land with all utilities in place. It provides plenty of room for expansion if needed.
The CCHC team and the Salina Regional Health Center team then started to look at funding options.
It was announced at the time that funding would not include any new property tax.
