CCHC to offer screenings at Health & Wellness Fair

Cloud County Health Center will be hosting its 2019 Health & Wellness Fair on October 12 from 6:30-10:30 a.m. in the President's Addition at Cloud County Community College.
Lab screening tests and vascular screening tests will be offered at prices much lower than those charged when done at the hospital.
Lab screening tests, and brief descriptions, will include:
CBC (complete blood count) – White blood count, red blood count, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelet count.
CMP (complete metabolic profile) – Calcium, glucose, Bun, BUN: creatinine ratio, creatinine, sodium potassium, chloride, CO2, total protein, albumin, globulin ratio, albumin, total bilirubin, ALP, AST and ALT.
Lipid profile – Cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL:Good), low density  lipoprotein (LDL: Bad). Helps in assessing the risk of heart disease.
TSH – Evaluates thyroid function.
Cost of those screenings is $40, as compared to over $700 if they are done at a time other than during the Health Fair.
Other screening, a description and cost, include:
PSA (prostate specific antigen – Early detection of prostate cancer and other prostate diseases. $15.
Hemoglobin A1c (diabetic testing) – Assesses glucose control over a three month period, especially in diabetics. $10.
Vitamin D Level – Plays a role in calcium homeostasis and the maintenance of healthy bones. $35.
Atrial fibrillation screening (AF or A-Fib) – Cardiac recording performed to screen for A-Fib. If you already have AF or have a pacemaker, it is not necessary to be screened. $25.
Cost of those screenings combined would be over $500 if done through the lab.
Cash or check only will be accepted for the screenings.
Those planning on having labs drawn should not eat or drink for 10-12 hours prior. Water and medications are allowed.
Preregistration at CCHC admissions is recommended, and will decrease the wait time. It is available to download and print at www.cchc.com. Send or take it to Cloud County Health Center.
Vascular screenings will also be offered at the health fair, and are non-invasive and pain free.
Cash or check only will be accepted for the screenings. Each costs $25. Insurance companies will not be billed and no physician's order is required. Schedule with the Radiology Department.
Screenings being offered, a brief description and the cost.
Peripheral arterial disease screening – Checking for narrowing of the blood vessels in the legs.
Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening – The aorta is the largest blood vessel in the body. Checking for aortic aneurysm, which is weakening of the aorta walls.
Carotid artery disease screening – Checking for plaque in the carotid arteries which causes blockage in the artery, limiting blood flow to the brain.
Atrial fibrillation screening – (AF or A-Fib) cardiac recording performed to screen for A-Fib.
The vascular screening tests will also be offered in the Radiology Department at Cloud County Health Center on Tuesdays and Thursday from October 8-24 at the same cost as the Health Fair.
