CLOUD COUNTY HAS 4TH POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE

A fourth positive test of COVID-19 in Cloud County was confirmed Wednesday morning by Cloud County Health Department administrator Brandi Bray.
The test was administered Monday after the patient had experienced a loss of smell. The positive result was released on Tuesday night.
The patient reported that he had experienced a fever and cough 11 days ago, but just thought it was very mild and therefore was not too concerned. After five days of no fever the patient began experiencing a loss of smell which prompted him to get tested.
While the patient was symptomatic with a fever and cough he was isolated, however, a few days after the fever, he was in public places, but was wearing a mask at all times.
Because he was wearing a mask, everyone he would have had contact with is considered low risk or have no identifiable risks.
Close contacts are anyone who has been in contact with a symptomatic lab-confirmed case within six feet for 10 minutes or more. Walking by a person or being briefly in the same room is not considered a close contact.
"We could have had a lot of contact calls to make if this person had not been wearing a mask."
Bray said, in stressing the importance of wearing a mask.
The patient has now been fever free for greater than seven days, and therefore is out of the contagious period of the virus.
Bray said that it is important for everyone to wear a mask when in situations that involve person-to-person contact or in public places. Not only does this help protect yourself, but it also protects others.  By everyone wearing a mask when shopping or interacting with others we can continue to slow the spread of COVID-19.
