Cloud County receives funds from HRRR

Cloud County will receive $339,000 from the Kansas Department of Transportation's High Risk Rural Roads (HRRR) program.
The funds will be used to upgrade signing of gravel major collectors in the Cloud County.
Projects in 16 counties will receive a combined total of approximately $4.5 million in funding to improve safety on rural roads as part of the HRRR program.
Counties sent in applications for the program from November 2018 to the end of January, with projects being selected earlier this month. The funds are for Federal Fiscal Year 2021.
Projects in the program fall into one of two categories, systemic or site specific. Those in the systemic category are 100 percent federally funded and aren't required to provide a match. Site specific projects are 90 percent federally funded, and a county contributes up to 10 percent of the project cost.
