County board approves 2020 budget

A fiscal year 2020 operating budget calling for a decrease in the estimated tax rate by 1.09 mills was approved by the Cloud County board of commissioners following a budget hearing Monday morning.
There were no public comments made during the budget hearing.
The proposed budget lowers the estimated tax rate from 70.975 mills in 2019 to a estimated 69.885 mills for 2020. The tax rate in 2018 was 72.698 mills.
Total proposed budget authority for expenditures in 2020 is $17,070,405 with amount of ad valorem tax of $8,030,689 compared to $12,465,191 in actual expenditures in 2019.
The proposed general fund expenditures for 2020 are $2,814,731 with an estimated tax rate of 19.865.
General fund expenditures for 2019 totaled $3,431,915 with a tax rate of 22.246.
The county's assessed valuation has risen from $110,837,695 to $114,913,302.
