County board approves trailer purchase

The Cloud County board of commissioners, during its regular meeting on Monday, approved a request from Andy Asch, Highway Department administrator, to purchase a lowboy trailer to haul heavy equipment.
Asch discussed the possible purchase of the trailer with the board during the meeting.
The board approved purchasing the trailer at a cost of $78,788.
Asch also reported the department was doing tree work and continuing to drag roads.
Brandi Bray, Health Department administrator, met with the board and discussed possible changes to the building.
Bray informed the board that CASA was raising money for renovations to its office space. She also discussed the purchase of three rooftop units and a vehicle for the department.
Henry Eilert, Maintenance manager, discussed the snow blower motor repair and routine maintenance issues with the Courthouse floors.
The board approved spending $2,600 to repair the snow blower motor.
It was reported that the board will be setting up interviews for the Emergency Management Coordinator position.
Brent Gering, who was hired for the new full-time Emergency Management Coordinator job last fall, resigned effective January 3.
Board chairman Gary Caspers said that there will be three to five candidates interviewed for the job.
County Treasurer JoDee LeDuc presented the 2019 fund status report during the meeting.
The board approved having the chairman sign two proclamations that proclaim January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month and National Stalking Awareness Month.
The board talked to Wyatt Hoch, Foulston Siefkin by telephone about ongoing issues with the Law Enforcement Center building.
The following expenses, totaling $320,240.09, were approved by the board:
General Fund, $145,790.39; Road & Bridge, $5,535.14; Juvenile Reinvestment, $90.25; Employee Benefits, $72,127; Juvenile Justice, $4,439.12; Community Corrections, $5,090.05; Appraisal, $188.06; Clerk Tech Fund, $58; Noxious Weed, $1,455.53; Election, $202.03; Solid Waste, $626.35; Court Services, $427.50; Auto Special, $154.55; County Tourism & Convention, $288.12; Special Economic Development, $1,268; Special Machinery & Equipment, $82,500.
