County board hears report on Law Enforcement Center

Cloud County Sheriff's Brian Marks met with the Cloud County board of commissioners during its regular meeting on Monday and discussed topics concerning the Law Enforcement Center.
Marks proposed the idea of having the jail provide its own food service rather than using the current contract service. He also discussed maintenance needed and the status of the roof repairs.
Andy Asch, Highway Department administrator, presented a classification change to the board. He also discussed a request for a petition, reported that the Jamestown and Miltonvale blacktop roads were cored and that a county vehicle was hit by another vehicle last Friday.
The hiring of Clarence Beaumont as an equipment operator for the Highway Department, effective November 19, at a six-month introductory rate of $13.94 was approved by the board.
The board approved a request and petition from Chase L. Larson for a waterline along county roads starting ¾ mile west of 100th Road on the south side of Wagon Road, east to the 100th Road crossing under 100th Road going north approximately ¼ mile on the east side from Wagon Road going south and east on Vista Road approximately ¾ mile.
Health Department administrator Brandi Bray presented a classification change, reported there were issues with the copier and that she was attending emergency preparedness meetings and working on continuing education hours.
The board acknowledged the resignation of Amy Sulanka, effective November 19.
Toby Nosker, KNCK Radio, inquired about the county food challenge.
The board challenged the county employees to collect 6,054 food items over three months. To day 5,384 items have been collected and delivered to the Cloud County Food Bank.
The following payroll expenses, totaling $150,920.99, were approved by the board:
General fund, $82,466.24; appraisal, $4,916.14; noxious weed, $511.54; solid waste, $4,558.20; road & bridge, $42,516.98; county health, $14,241.51; election, $1,710.38.
