County board meets with dept. heads

Cloud County Health Department administrator Brandi Bray met with the board of commissioners during their regular meeting on Tuesday to discuss purchasing the Health Department building.
Bray informed the commissioners she would arrange inspections of the building and contact Casselrock, Inc. for the price for purchase.
Highway Department administrator Andy Asch reported to the commission that he was going to be looking at purchasing a used grader.
The board approved the hiring of Paul Shepherd as a part-time equipment operator at a rate of $11.50 per hour, effective October 28.
The board met with department heads during the meeting.
Reports presented include:
Mike Hake, Solid Waste director – Sold 43,808 pounds of mixed paper.
Brent Gering, Emergency Management Coordinator – LEPC meeting was Wednesday; National Weather Service Office predicts 38 inches of snow for north central Kansas over the winter months and discussed notification for closing the offices or opening late.
Kristi Benyshek, District Court Clerk – Ordered new blinds using diversion funds and the wrong color was received. Waiting on the correct color.
Jerry Collins, IT director – October is Cybersecurity Month. If emails need to be saved, they need to be saved on the server not just in email programs. Setting up last of the new computers.
Asch – Finished sealing, signs replaced and working on rock jobs and dragging roads.
Bray – Busy with flu shot clinics; public clinics will be from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday at Cloud Village, from 10 a.m. -noon Monday at the Glasco Senior Center, from 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the Concordia Chamber of Commerce office; Concordia Unified School District 333 students and staff will have the opportunity for shots on October 28-29; Family Planning site visit is Thursday; and participating in a Medicaid advisory group meeting on October 25.
Henry Eilert, Maintenance manager – Winterizing the cooling tower and getting the boiler ready to go and running wire for the County Attorney's office to come on the county server.
Shella Thoman, County Clerk – Advance voting started Wednesday; discussed the next food challenge and pumpkin decorating contest, the Resource Center will benefit from both; discussed reimbursement checks needing to be $10 or more before being issued.
The board approved the following expenses totaling $348,603.73:
General Fund, $104,614.09; Juvenile Reimbursement, $22.70; Community Corrections, $338.89; County Health, $21,520.35; Election, $302.19; Fair, $2,172.99; Court Services, $218.50; Employee Benefits, $1,000; Historical Museum, $270.95; Auto Special, $32.50; County Tourism & Convention, $9,844.26; Road & Bridge, $180,817.73; Juvenile Justice, $292.29; Appraisal, $363.74; Noxious Weed, $103.68; Pawnee Mental Health, $1,271.94; OCCK, $639.83; Soil Conservation $459.75; Services for the Elderly, $89.75; Special Alcohol & Drug, $2,425.00.
