County board receives budget requests

The Cloud County Historical Society presented a 2020 budget request in the amount of $40,000 to the Cloud County board of commissioners during its regular meeting on Monday.
Quentin Smith presented the request for the Historical Society. It is an increase of $2,000 of the $38,000 awarded in 2019.
The request will be considered by the board while preparing the 2020 budget.
The board also received budget requests from the Register of Deeds and North Central Kansas CASA, Inc. and Hope's Place Child Advocacy Center.
The Register of Deeds requested $3,500, not including salaries, the same as 2019 and a Register of Deeds tech fund for the total available in the fund.
North Central Kansas CASA, Inc. requested $13,000, the same amount it has received for 11 years.
Andy Asch, Highway Department administrator, met the board and reported that Wagon Road is planned to be open this week. Asch also reported that the department is finishing work on Highway 24 and will then work on the Norway Road, discovering more washout and culvert problems on the dirt roads, but they are focused on the gravel roads.
Solid Waste director Mike Hake presented a resignation to the board and discussed fines being issued at the Transfer Station for unsecure loads and reported on work being done on the bins at the Recycling Center.
The board acknowledged the resignation of Jared Shuler from the Recycling Center effective June 3.
Ricky Huse, Family Heritage, explained products from his company to the board and requested permission to talk to the county employees.
The board asked Huse to attend the department head meeting on June 10.
Moving Katie Brooks from full-time Family Planning coordinator to part-time temporary LPN at a rate of $18.40 effective June 4 was approved by the board.
The board approved a classification change for Megan Dieckmann from part-time LPN to full-time LPN at a rate of $18.40 effective May 28.
Payroll deductions and benefits totaling $66,431.50 were approved by the board.
The board approved the following payroll expenses totaling $159,006.72:
General Fund, $87,443.06; Appraisal, $5,095.32; Noxious Weed, $1,618.94; Solid Waste, $4,434.60; Road & Bridge, $43,682.60; County Health, $15,270.28; Election, $1,461.92.
