County commission discusses Emergency Preparedness position

The Cloud County board of commissioners discussed the job description and wages for the Emergency Preparedness director during its regular meeting on Monday.
During the June 17 meeting, the board approved by a vote of 2-1 to change the Emergency Preparedness director position from part-time to full-time.
Concordia Fire Chief Eric Voss has been serving as the part-time Emergency Preparedness director since February 2016.
There was no decision made by the board during the Monday meeting.
Also during the meeting, Solid Waste director Mike Hake met with the board to discuss the solid waste fee resolution approved during the previous meeting. The board agreed that the solid waste disposal fees for business and schools would remain at $25 per ton or a portion per month.
Brandi Bray, Health Department administrator, discussed repairs needed at the Health Department with the board.
The board approved signing the agreement with Kirkham Michael & Associates, Inc. for Project No. 15 C-4888-01.
Highway Department administrator Andy Asch presented a request and petition to place a telephone line along county roads and the signing project agreement with the board.
A utility permit for Lee R. Smith dba Smith Trenching for an AT&T defective line at 1973 North 230th Rd. was approved by the board.
Dave Tangeman, Fife Safe, presented a quote for a new security system at the Courthouse to the board.
The board approved allowing Chairman Gary Caspers to sign the request for a quote for flood insurance coverage for the Courthouse.
Levi Whitley and John Christensen of the EMS Association met with the board and reported on trainings and EMS classes the association has done. They reported they were changing the voting policies and requested $4,000 for the 2020 budget.
The board met with department heads during the meeting.
Following a break, the board and department heads met to review and make adjustments to the 2020 budget.
The board approved the following expenses totaling $179,829.36:
General Fund, $87,729.70; Auto Special, $67.50; Juvenile Justice, $8,829.50; Appraisal, $266.02; County Health, $13,867.65; Court Services, $358.50; Employee Benefits, $1,000; Road & Bridge, $46,870.53; Juvenile Reimbursement, $5,715.58; Community Corrections, $9,639.92; Cloud County Tourism & Convention, $268.40; Noxious Weed, $474.87; Solid Waste, $2,833.31; Vending machines, $26.
