Disaster Distribution scheduled for June 3

A Disaster Household Distribution is scheduled for June 3 at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia.
Items will be available for pickup from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Please do not come early.
Those picking up items are asked to line up in the lower parking lot at the church at 11:15 a.m., remain in their vehicle with the windows rolled up and leave space available behind the driver or in the trunk so the volunteers can load the items.
All volunteers will be wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.
The distribution is to help those who do not normally qualify for Food Stamps, commodities or food bank assistance, and need extra help.
Under a presidential declaration of national emergency, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service may approve state requests for Disaster Household Distributions for targeted areas to meet specific needs when traditional channels of food are unavailable and not being replenished on a regular basis.
The distributions provide boxed foods to households, using existing inventories of USDA purchased foods.
The USDA has approved targeted distributions for Kansas.
There will be a separate Commodities Distribution later in June. The date has not yet been determined.
