Effort underway to collect items for flood victims in Nebraska

The Cloud County Health Center, the Concordia Chamber of Commerce and CloudCorp are working together to provide emergency aid to Nebraska communities impacted by historic flooding.
Snowmelt, ice jams and heavy rains have caused widespread flooding across the Midwest.
More than eight million people are under flood warnings across the region and the Mississippi River Valley.
Flood records have been shattered in 17 places in Nebraska, and more rivers will likely break cresting records this week.
Flooding in Nebraska had left two dead and two missing as of Monday afternoon. Many have been forced to evacuate.
The Cloud County Health Center, 1100 Highland Dr., is the community dropoff location for donations to help those in need in Nebraska. All items can be dropped off at the from desk through 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Suggested items for donation include:
Shovels, masks, disinfectants, tarps, bottled water, sports drinks, prepackaged snacks, adult socks, towels, blankets, bleach, brooms, paper goods (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.), canned goods, trash cans, trash bags, calf milk replacer and calf bottles.
Cash donations can also be made by contacting Denise Baumann at Cloud County Health Center.
Concordia Unified School District 333 students can also help the flood victims by taking donations to their school building this week.
CloudCorp executive director Kim Reynolds contacted officials in all of the towns in Cloud County about accepting donations.
“I wanted it to be a collaborative effort. Instead of a bunch of little efforts, have one big effort and include the entire county,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds said that students at Clifton-Clyde High School are involved in the project.
Donated items dropped off in the towns across the county will be picked up on  Friday.
A semi that is picking up items across much of western Kansas will be stopping in Concordia on Saturday afternoon to pick up items collected in Cloud County.
Reynolds said that if the semi is already too ful,l there are a couple of people who have volunteered to deliver the items.
“We are working with the Nebraska Cattleman's Association to parts hit the hardest as soon as possible,” Reyolds said.
