Extended hours for early voting in Cloud County announced

Cloud County Clerk Shella Thoman announced on Friday that the hours for early in-person voting at the Courthouse in the November 3 general election will be extended beginning next week.
The hours for in-person advance voting are currently 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The hours will be extended next week to 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
“We did it because we have been super busy and people are coming in to vote. We did it in August (primary election) as well,” Thoman said. “I would guess that most counties do some extended hours the week before the actual election day just for those people who don’t want to vote by mail or can’t make it during the daytime or can’t make it to the polls.”
Approximately 350 advance ballots have been cast at the Courthouse as of Friday morning. The deadline for advance voting is November 2 at noon.
Those casting advance ballots in person, like those voting at the polls on election day, must show photographic identification.
With many voters casting ballots this year by mail because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the County Clerks’ Office has mailed out 1,246 ballots and have received 718 of those back.
