Hospital project in permitting phase

Construction by Cloud County Health Center of a $40.35 million modern medical facility on College Drive has moved into the permitting phase.
TreanorHL, the architectural firm on the project, has completed the design work for the 14-bed facility.
A building permit application and blueprints for the project have been submitted to the city of Concordia for review.
“The city has been great to work with,” Cloud County Health Center administrator David Garnas said.
Building plans have also been submitted to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the Kansas Fire Marshall and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Garnas said he hoped to have the permitting process for the project completed by February 15.
McCownGordon Construction, selected by Cloud County Health Center (CCHC) as the construction management at-risk firm for the project, has started the bidding process.
Groundbreaking for the new facility is scheduled for March 1. Plans for the event will be announced at a later date.
Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed in the first of 2022.
It was announced in June of last year that CCHC had been approved for financing for the construction of the new hospital.
Garnas, during a public event at the Broadway Plaza in July 2019, announced the plans to build a new hospital in Concordia without the use of local tax support.
