New Business Profile: The Traveling Yogi Studio

Here's a word for you: Mandala.

According to Wikipedia, a mandala is 'a geometric configuration of symbols. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation and trance induction.'
A mandala is the centerpiece of Autumn Burgess's new yoga facility at 117 East 6th Street: The Traveling Yogi Studio.
Burgess was born and raised in Clyde and began practicing yoga in 2008.
"Yoga is much more than just poses," she said. "There are so many different types of yoga. It has so many flexibility and strength benefits. You learn to channel your peace through breathing techniques and mind wellness. Yoga has so many benefits off the mat."
Burgess completed a 12-month training program to become a certified yoga instructor. "I enjoy teaching, and it's something I want to share with the community. We're kind of bringing something new to Concordia and surrounding communities. I want this to be a place where people can come and relax."
Burgess works full-time as a territory sales consultant for Allstate Insurance, covering parts of Kansas and Nebraska. The Traveling Yogi Studio will begin by offering classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m.
Burgess said she will be adding Saturday classes soon, and hopes to also incorporate yoga for kids, as well.
"We'll be doing vinyasa yoga," Burgess said. "These are slow-flow classes where you tie your movements with your breath."
Burgess said the classes are for all types of people, all shapes, all ages, and at all levels. "Really, anyone can do this type of yoga. It's for everyone."
The Traveling Yogi Studio will have their Open House on April 7????? From 4-6 p.m. Classes will be $6 per session, or Burgess is offering a 10-class pass card for $50.
"With this type of yoga that we'll be doing, if someone misses a class they won't at all fall behind. These classes are for everyone from beginners to advanced. Everyone just has to bring their own mat. I'll take care of the other props."
