Two candidates file for county commission seat

With the deadline approaching, two more candidates have filed for the 3rd District seat on the Cloud County board of commissioners.
Republicans Gail Engle, Concordia, and Michael Haley, Delphos, have filed for the position.
Republican Ron Copple, the city of Concordia public works director, had previously filed for the 3rd District seat.
The deadline for filing for the November 3 election is Monday at noon.
Bill Garrison, who currently holds the 3rd District seat on the commission, has not filed for re-election.
Engle served two terms on the county commission. He was first elected in 2008 and then re-elected in 2012.
Garrison defeated Engle and Ray Crowninshield in the Republican primary election in 2016.
Haley, who ran as an Independent candidate in 2016, was defeated by Garrison in the general election.
 The Republican nominee for the commission position will be decided in the primary election scheduled for August 4.
The 3rd District includes Grant, Summit, Solomon, Lyon, Center, East Meredith, West Meredith and Lincoln townships, and the 3rd Ward of Concordia.
