BERNARD DWAINE BREAULT

Bernard Dwaine Breault, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on December 29, 1931, on the family farm in Aurora, Kansas, to Alphonse and Leona (Marcotte) Breault.

Bernard attended Aurora country schools during his childhood.  Bernard served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged.
 
He married Helen L. (Hallowell) McDowell in 1955. She preceded him in death on December 31, 1991.  On July 15, 1995, he married Wilma (Hodge) Owen at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Aurora, Kansas.
 
Bernard was a lifelong area resident & farmer.  He also was a school bus driver for USD #333 Concordia for 17 years.  He enjoyed playing cards, farming, farm auctions, casinos and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was a Lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council #2114 Aurora & American Legion Post #76 of Concordia.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Wilma, Aurora; 2 daughters, Lana Stolzenburg (Don), Concordia, KS; Debbie Lant (Rick), Garwin, IA; son-in-law, Larry Bye, Lincoln, NE; step-daughter, Linda Moir (Mike), Spokane, WA; stepsons, Jeff Owen (Kathy), Cherryvale, KS; Calvin Owen (Sonja), Edgewater, MD; Terry Owen (Melodie), Olathe, KS; stepdaughter, Rena Hamilton (John), Aurora, KS; stepson, Robert Owen, Clay Center, KS; 3 sisters, Delores Judd (Larry), Spokane, WA; Geraldine Scott, Salina, KS; Annabell Kogler (Marvin), Kipp, KS; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Helen; daughter, Kim William-Bye; stepson, Harold Lee McDowell; 2 brothers, Darrell & Elric Breault; sister, Dora Cottam.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Aurora, with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial with Military Honors by US Army Big Red One and American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 will follow the service at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Aurora.
 
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary service starting at 6 p.m. all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Family will receive friends after the Rosary service.
