Darrell Ray Kearn

Darrell Ray Kearn (75 yrs. of age) of Concordia, Kansas, went to be with the Lord and savior on November 17, 2020, in Concordia, surrounded by loved ones.
Darrell was born May 7, 1945, in Concordia, Kan., to George Kearn and Hazel (Trowbridge) Kearn. Darrell was the oldest of 12 children.
In 1962 Darrell swore into the United States Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Chicago. He spoke of how he always remembered the day President Kennedy was assassinated. He specifically remembers all of them having to stand at attention for the remainder of the day.
Darrell met the love of his life (Georgetta West) and was married November 2, 1968, at the Foursquare Church in Concordia, Kan. They shared just over 52 years of marriage together. They happily adopted two children: Jackie when she was 22 months old and Mark when he was 19 months old. In Darrell’s prime he loved spending time camping and fishing. He was always there to make light of any moment, ensuring a smile from everyone he came in contact with. Darrell was always a hard worker and kept up with several jobs along the way, some of which include the City of Concordia and the recycling for the county. Some of Darrell’s fondest memories come from traveling and singing at churches with Harvey Jones. Darrell was a member of the Foursquare Church, Wesleyan Church and settled with the Assembly of God Victorian Faith.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents (George & Hazel Kearn), his in-laws (Shorty & Arlene West), and his brother (Dennis Kearn), brother-in-law (Ron West) & brothers-in-law (Lyle Lewis & Mark Ruthstom)
Survived by his wife (Georgetta (West) Kearn); children (Jackie Kearn & Mark Kearn); grandchildren (Mary Ann Crane, JR Staley, Colby Kearn, Casey Kearn, Sidnee Kearn, Dalton Kearn, Trenton Kearn and Carly Kearn) and great-grandchild (Jimmy Crane); along with many nieces & nephews.
Also survived by siblings, Donnie (Deb) Kearn of Concordia, Brenda (Don) Hester of Kent, Wash., Dorathy (Ron-deceased) West of Smith Center, Ralph (Phyllis) Kearn of Concordia, Sherry (Lyle-deceased) Lewis of Osborne; Bob (Brenda) Kearn of Concordia, Tom Kearn of Concordia, Dannie (Deb) Kearn of Concordia, Deb (Jim) Mosher of Concordia, and Sandy ( Mark-deceased) Ruthstom of Belleville.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 19, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Nutter Mortuary.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., at the Victory Faith Assembly of God Church, Concordia, Kan., with Pastor Rick Barrett officiating.
Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Clifton, Kan.
Memorial contributions are to be given to Concordia Animal Shelter and The Victory Faith Assembly of God.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the hospice staff that helped make his last minutes as comfortable as possible. He will be missed by many.
