Delbert Earl Ostrom

Delbert Earl Ostrom, 86, of Plainville, died May 21, 2020, at Hays Medical Center following a brief illness.  He was born in Neosho, MO, Oct. 31, 1933.  He later moved to Concordia, KS when his mother married Edward Ostrom.  He attended schools in Concordia and graduated from Concordia High School.  
He married Charlotte Ann  Ball on November 21, 1954 at the Baptist Church in Concordia, Ks.
 
 He farmed for several years before moving to Plainville in 1957 to work in the oil fields,  
He worked for Brown Bros. Well Service for a number of years before buying the business. from which he retired in 1998.  He and Charlotte traveled and later spent 18 winters in Arizona.

He loved bicycling having done Biking Across Kansas for several years and Ride the Rockies in Colorado. He earned his pilot's license and flew his own plane on vacations and to Texas for parts for his well service equipment.  He was also an avid computer and camera geek.  

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of the home; sons, Mike (Peggy) Homer, Alaska; Terry (Joy) Derby, Ks; Curtis (Adel) Mt. Holly, N.C.:  daughters, Karen Moeder, Oakley, Ks; Jo Ward (Burl) West Dundee, Ill.  One brother, Larry (Phyllis) of Concordia; sister-in-law Sue Gum (Daryl) of Concordia; son-in-law, Mike Simon of Plainville.  13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Simon; parents Edward and Lola Ostrom; son-in-law, John Moeder; daughter-in-law, Kay Ostrom; brother Wesley Ostrom and brother-in-law, David Ball.

As cremation was chosen there will be no viewing.  Memorial services will be held in the Plainville Christian Church, on  Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.   A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
