Douglas A. Hanson

Douglas A. Hanson, age 73, entered into rest on Friday, January 15, 2021, at his residence in Concordia, Kansas. He was born February 12, 1947, in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Dean A. and Dorothy A. (Schroth) Hanson.
He was a 1965 graduate of Concordia High School and attended Ft. Hays State University for two years.
Douglas was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. He was honorably discharged.
In September of 1968, he married Kathleen Schmidt in Hays, Kansas, and to this marriage two children were born, Derek and Tricia.
Douglas was a project superintendent for 33 years working all over the United States, working in every state except Alaska, Hawaii, and Idaho. He worked on many projects, including Hale Library, KSU Campus, Union Station in Washington, D.C., CBS Studio, LA, Calif., also Greensburg, Kan., after the Tornado Storm. He was project manager for AMC Theaters, overseeing 200 units in two years.  Douglas enjoyed the camaraderie and going to Sturgis, S.D., for the annual Motorcycle Rally.
Douglas is survived by his two children, Tricia & husband Pat Corcoran, grandson Patrick, grandson Dylan, and granddaughter Abby; son, Derek Hanson, granddaughter Madalyn, great-granddaughter, Lilliana, grandsons, Izaevion & Donovan; sister, Debra Hiett, Manhattan; brother, Dirk & wife Karen, of Olathe, brother, Drew & wife Brenda, of Wichita, brother, Dane & wife Brenda, of Jamestown; many nieces and nephews.
Douglas was preceded in death by his children’s mother, Kathleen Hanson, parents, Dean and Dorothy, brother, David Hanson, daughter-in-law, Mayra Hanson.
Friends are invited to join the family in a Celebration of Life reception and family visitation on Thursday, January 21, 2021, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Kansas Creek Inn, 1330 Union Road, Concordia, Kansas.
