In loving memory we honor the passing of John Charles Davies. Born May 1, 1935, Concordia, Kansas, to Rowland and Isabell Davies. He succumbed to a long battle against Parkinson's on June 23, 2019, at 2:25 a.m.
John's family lived on a section of land outside Concordia. His Grandpa and Grandma Davies homesteaded the farm, raised 9 kids, and John's father was the youngest.  John's parents had three boys, three years  and three months apart: John Charles, Gary Arthur and Thomas Wayne. John worked hard on the farm, and when things were slow, he worked for the neighbors, at the feed store and at a restaurant in Concordia. He was a very good athlete, playing American Legion baseball and high school football, basketball and running track.
After high school, he attended Emporia State college where he received a Teachers Education degree. During this time he met his wife to be, Louise. They were married for 62 years. They had two children, John Bradley and Angela. John taught school in Burlingame and Wichita, Kansas. He worked summers at a local moving and storage company and eventually co-owned a company in Wichita. He was a high school football game official and became a very good golfer, a game he loved.
He and Louise lived in Albuquerque and Dallas, but returned home to Wichita. Louise lovingly cared for John during his last few years.
He is survived by his lovely wife Louise; his son Brad; his daughter Angela; and their families which include: 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and brother Gary and wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Tom.
To honor his legacy, a memorial fund is being set up in his name for his fraternity at Emporia State University, the Sigma Phi Epsilon, of which he was a past president during his college years. Proceeds are asked to be sent to: ESU Foundation, John Davies Memorial- Sig Ep Fraternity Scholarship.
