JOYCE M. HARDAWY

Joyce M. Hardaway, age 93, formerly of Jamestown, KS, passed away on Wed., Jan. 23, 2019 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia.  She was born in Rural Jamestown, KS on Sept. 26, 1925 to Herbert & Edith (Hinson) Nelson.

Joyce graduated from Jamestown High School.  She married Dean L. Hardaway on Dec. 25, 1946 in Belleville, KS.  She was a lifelong area resident.  Joyce sold Avon for over 20 years and was a homemaker.  She was a member of the American Legion & VFW Auxiliaries, Concordia.  Joyce enjoyed her many activities and spending time with her grandsons.  Joyce was also an avid writer and wrote countless poems and a book of poems.

She is survived by her husband, Dean, Concordia; son, Roger Hardaway (Tina), Concordia; 5 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bryan; her parents and a brother, Keith Nelson.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Friday, January 25, 2019 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  Burial will follow at Saron Baptist Cemetery, Jamestown.  Visitation will be from 1-5 pm, Thurs., Jan. 24, 2019 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  The family will greet friends for an hour prior to the services on Friday.  The family suggests memorials to the American Legion Auxiliary or the family’s choice in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
