Juanita S. Demars, age 86, formerly of Concordia, Kan., died Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the Alpine Village Retirement Center, Verdigre, Neb. She was born on Feb. 20, 1933, in Concordia, Kan., to Hiram Jack & Clara L. (Seals) Burns.
She was a lifelong Concordia area resident until she moved to be closer to her daughter. She married Melvin Demars on Dec. 28, 1951, in Concordia, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2004.  She worked as a Certified Nurses Aide at the St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia. She was past president of the American Legion Post #76 Ladies Auxiliary and a lifetime member. She also was a former member of VFW #588 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Buschkamp (Alan), Bloomfield, Neb.; son, Kim Demars (Linda), Clearwater; grandchildren, Stacy Pedersen and friend Todd Albers, Ryan and Alysa (Leary) Buschkamp, Monica (Demars) and Trey Stricklin, Justin Demars, Coral (Demars) and Andrew Campbell & Seth Demars; and great-grandchildren, Gage Pedersen, Dawson Pedersen, Hayden Stricklin, Connor Stricklin, Reese Stricklin, Chattan Campbell, Sutton Campbell  & Bradley Buschkamp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents; brothers, Jack and Joe Burns; sisters, Colleen Livengood, Oleato Perret & Gloria Canfield.
It was Juanita’s wishes to be cremated and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  The family suggests memorials to American Legion #76 Auxiliary, Concordia; AseraCare Hospice, O’Neill, Neb. & Alpine Village Retirement Center, Verdigre, Neb., in care of the funeral home.
