RAYMOND N. STANTON

 Mr. Raymond N. Stanton, age 90, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on February 14, l929 in Burr Oak, Kansas. He was the loving son of the late Frank R. and Ada Neill Stanton. He earned a bachelor's degree in education at Kansas State University, and a master's degree in administration at Emporia State Teacher's College. On June 4, l950 he was united in marriage to Joan A. Hazlett. This union was blessed with a son, Sam, and two daughters, Pennie and Jonnie. They had many happy years together until Joan's death on July 13, 2011. Ray was a coach, teacher, and administrator for 40 years in Concordia, Kansas. He was a member of First Christian Church in downtown Madison. He was on the board of directors at St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia, Kansas for 10 years. While in Kansas, he was area supervisor for football and basketball officials. He was a member of the Lions Club for 49 years. He was Professional Practicing Commissioner for Kansas Board of Education. He received the Melvin Jones Honor. Ray enjoyed singing with Fern and the Gang, athletics, and was a huge sports enthusiast. Ray died on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
       Ray will be missed by his loving daughters, Jonnie Friedman and her husband Michael of Baltimore, Maryland, Pennie Fleming and her companion Rodolpho Ocegueda of Los Angeles, California; son, Sam Stanton and his wife Cecilia of Ossining, New York; his grandchildren, Matthew Friedman (Rachel), Nicole Cox (Brandon), Erin Fleming (Dustin), Jordan Jones, Cecilia Stanton (Lety), Allison Taylor (Jason), Maria (Dan), and Victor; his great grandchildren, Kerrin, Sammy, Matthew and Kade; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank R. Stanton, his mother, Ada Neill Stanton, his wife of 61 years, Joan A. Hazlett Stanton, died July 13, 2011, his sisters, Eva McCormick, Geneva Garman, Rada Stanton and Freda Benedict.
