RICHARD CHARLES MEYER

Richard Charles Meyer, 71, Wamego, KS died Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Wamego Health Center.
He was born May 20, 1947 in Concordia to Francis J. and Laurette M. Meyer (LeDuc). He was the middle child of six Meyer children. He attended rural Cloud County middle school near Miltonvale and graduated from Concordia High School in 1965. He then went on to Cloud County Community Junior College receiving an associate of arts degree in 1967, he was a graduate of Ft. Hays Kansas State College, receiving his bachelor of science in business in 1969.
Richard honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1969 – 1971.
Richard loved farming and hunting and retired from Westar-Jeffrey Energy Center, St. Marys, KS.
He married Janice Delforge in 1971. Richard’s immediate family includes one daughter, Kerry Whearty (Kenny) and two sons, Justin and Brian (Korrie) as well as four granddaughters (Melesa and Erica Whearty, Paxton and Emily Meyer) and two grandsons (Isaac and Elliott Meyer).
He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Lynwood Meyer and stepbrother Steve Schrandt.
Family survivors include two sisters, Armellia Reiter of Wakeeney and Phyllis McAllister of Overland Park; two brothers Kenny Meyer (Helen) of Salina and Bernard Meyer (Melba) of Colby; one sister-in-law Marian Meyer of Grand Island, NE and two stepsisters Kris Nelson (JB) of Delphos and Mary Alice Wink of Semmes, AL; two stepbrothers Bill (Betty) Schrandt of Lansing and Bob (Trudy) Schrandt of Walpole, Mass.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego with a visitation to take place one hour before the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Meredith Township in Cloud County at a later date. The family has suggested memorials to the Richard Meyer Memorial Fund which will be designated at a later date, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.  Condolences may also be left at www.stewartfuneralhomes.com.
