Shirley A. (Snavely) Hamilton

Shirley A. (Snavely) Hamilton, age 83, entered into rest on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas. She was born on Feb. 13, 1938, in Concordia, Kansas, to Earl G. & Alberta M. (Allen) Snavely.
She grew up in Concordia and attended school until her junior year at Concordia High School, where she met Max C. Hamilton. They were married on Dec. 19, 1955, at the Wesleyan Methodist Parsonage in Concordia. He preceded her on March 8, 1996.
They moved to California for a short time but returned to Concordia and Salina. They later moved, in 1969, to a farm in Republic Co., where they farmed, raised cattle and pigs. Shirley also sold Avon for several years, worked at the F&A Retail Store for years. In 2008, she moved from the farm after 39 years back to Concordia where she continued to work for KanOK Insurance Service & F&A. In June of this year Shirley moved to Scandia.
Shirley was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, where she had served as past president for two terms. She enjoyed and loved her dog (Reba), reading, embroidery, house plants; she had a green thumb.   
Shirley loved spending time with her lady friends, her family and most of all, her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Kayann Herrman & hus. Marvin & son, Roger Hamilton & wife Valerie, both of Scandia; sister, Linda (Carl) Nettles, Waxahachie, Texas & brother-in-law, Stan Haynes, Larned; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; parents; brothers, Leonard (Pinky) & Earl Eudene (Dean or Lefty) Snavely & two sisters, Norma Haynes and Joyce Deneault.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 1-5 p.m., at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2021, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, NE of Norway, Kansas.
