Wesley Wayne Jones

Wesley Wayne Jones, age 84, formerly of Concordia, entered into rest on Sunday, July 5, 2020, in Salina, Kansas. He was born on February 23, 1936, in Sabetha, Kan., to Lloyd W. & Stella (Ruse) Jones.
He attended schools in Goff, Kansas. W.W. served in the United States Navy on the destroyer USS Fletcher DD-445 for 4 years.
He owned and operated a milk hauling business from dairy farms in Cloud County and surrounding counties, returning the fresh milk to Fairmont Foods in Concordia, Kan. He drove semi-trucks with Crete Carrier, Lincoln, Neb., and hauling freight all over the United States. He later owned and operated W.W. Jones Trucking hauling grain and continued to run one truck until retirement in 2017 around the Salina, Kan., area. If that didn’t keep him busy, he also owned a farm on Camp Road in Cloud County raising crops and livestock, riding and breaking horses until his move to Salina.
Wayne married Barbara Ann Klever on March 8, 1955, in Burns, Oregon, and together they had 5 children. Barbara preceded him in death on May 21, 2003.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #76, Concordia.
W.W. enjoyed all sports, especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing all sports.
He is survived by his daughters, Renda Hatesohl (Jeff), Concordia, Robin Alderson (Dennis), DeSoto, Mo.; sons, Richard Jones (Kristi), Concordia, Kan., Russell Jones (Mae), Smolan, Kan., and Ronald Jones (Betty), Colby, Kan.; special companion, Joyce Hansen & family, Salina; sister, Jean Burns, Palm Coast, Fla.; sister-in-law, Patricia Reitzenstein, Portland, Ore.; brothers-in-law, August Klever, Yuma, Ariz., Roy Freeman, Gerhart, Ore., Vernon Brown (Tess), Tillamock, Ore.; 10 grandchildren: Derek Hatesohl (Cindy), Morgan Smith (Travis), Alicia Gage (Rob), Casey Alderson (Melissa), Andrea Jones (Jake Dorman), Lloyd Jones (Nedra), Marissa Nelson (Michael), Kyle Jones (Julie Gieber), Levi Jones (Becky), Jessica Ashford (Brandon) & 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents, Lloyd and Stella; stepmother, Harriett Jones; granddaughters, Tara Hansen and Cortney Hatesohl; sisters, Betty Turner, Elaine Oberg and Marsha Mellies; and brother, Lee Jones; stepsister, Joy Sykes; stepbrothers, Gale Hilbert, Bill Hilbert; brothers-in-law, Gene Turner, Robert Burns, Chris Hittle, Lanny Oberg, Vern Roush; sisters-in-law, Nancy Freeman, Ellen Brown, Beverly Klever, Alta Marie Roush.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, with Pastor Melanie Adams officiating.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #76 of Concordia and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, from 1-8 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Salina, Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home. The family asks to please wear casual, comfortable clothes and jeans. For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
