A Closer Walk

"'Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,'" Isaiah 41:10 NASB. Our God promises to help us. He promises to strengthen us. He promises to uphold us with His righteous right hand. Why? Because He is our God.

No one else can do for us what our Heavenly Father, the only true and Living God, can do for us. Not we ourselves. Not any government, nor government official. No strong man nor any rich man can do for us what our God can do for us. “Do not fear, for I am with you...” “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 KJV. Further, “Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies,” Romans 8:33 NASB. Our Lord is the One who provided our justification. And He is the same Lord who makes the promises. “...I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
He promises us that surely He will help us. Help us with what? Whatever we are going through or experiencing. Or whenever we need His help. There are times when our Lord helps us even before we know or realize that we need His help. Sometimes we can only see these events in hindsight. So surely He will help us. He has both the power and the authority to do so. Our God also promises that surely He will uphold us with His righteous right hand. Notice He doesn't just promise to help us and uphold us. He says surely he will help us and surely He will uphold us. Surely. In other words we can believe in His promises. We can count on His promises. Because surely He will help us. And surely He will uphold us with His righteous right hand.
But can we trust Him to do what He promises? Of course! He alone is God. “Declare and set forth your case; Indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; there is none except Me,” Isaiah 45:21 NASB. He is a righteous God and a Savior. We can trust our God with anything and everything, including our eternity. “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him,” 1 Corinthians 5:21 NASB. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of the blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God,” John 1:12-13 NASB.
As each of us walk the path our Lord has set before us we know that whatever may come our way or cross our path, His instruction is for us not to fear, because He is with us. Nor to look around us anxiously. Because He is our God. He will strengthen us, surely He will help us, and surely He will uphold us with His righteous right hand. Because He is with us and he is our God. And He alone is our God.
“To God be the glory, great things He hath done: so loved He the world that He gave us His son, who yielded His life an atonement for sin, and opened the lifegate that all may go in. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice! O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.” Words Fanny J. Crosby 1820-1915, music William H. Doane 1832-1915.
