A Closer Walk

How old is God? Have you ever wondered about that? In the Book of Daniel God is named as the Ancient of Days. "I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow, And the hair of His head like pure wool...", Daniel 7:9 NASB. The phrase Ancient of Days would seem to indicate that God has been around a long, long time. But that doesn't mean He is old, or even getting older.
"Before the mountains were born, Or Thou didst give birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God," Psalm 90:2 NASB. How long is everlasting? The word everlasting is anchored in eternity. And we know that eternity is, well eternal. No beginning. No ending. Eternity, eternal. Everlasting seems to be another way to refer to eternity. From everlasting to everlasting. Before time began, Almighty God was there. After time has ended, Almighty God will still be there. He has no beginning. He has no ending. He was, He is, He ever will be.
At the burning bush God called Moses to be the leader of Israel. "Then Moses said to God,'Behold I am going to the sons of Israel, and I shall say to them, "The God of your Fathers has sent me to you." Now they may say to me, "What is His name?" What shall I say to them?' And God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM'..." Exodus 3:13-14 NASB. I AM has no time anchor. He just is.
God doesn't get older. God is not old. But He has been around a long, long time; at least by our reckoning. He was there at the beginning. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth," Genesis 1:1 NASB. Before there was a beginning, there was God. In the beginning, God. At this point of eternity God chose to start the clock of human history, and this began with the creation. After all, we had to have something to stand on.
God is not feeble. God is not frail. His strength has not diminished, nor has His power decreased. HE IS GOD. And this God, our God, has a lot of experience dealing with us mere mortals. He also has a lot of experience dealing with situations and circumstances. Is it possible He can help us with our current situation or circumstance?
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need," Hebrews 4:16 KJV.
