A Closer Walk

God's ways are not the same as our ways. Neither are God's thoughts the same as our thoughts. His ways are infinitely better than our ways. Because He knows the end from the beginning. "Remember the former things long past, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure,'" Isaiah 46:9-10 NASB.

Not only does our God know how something will end before it even starts, He will bring circumstances to the conclusion that He is seeking. Why? Because He is God; and there is no other. Indeed, there truly is no one like Him. He doesn't stumble, but we do. He doesn't falter, but we do. He doesn't fail, but we do. His purpose will be established. And He will accomplish all His good pleasure. But for reasons we probably could not even comprehend, He chooses to use us as His vessels to carry out that purpose, and to accomplish that good pleasure. Even though we sometimes stumble, falter, and fail, He chooses to use us.
We may not always know what our God is doing, or why. Does He owe us an explanation? Does He need to inform us of His plan? Is it necessary for Him to ask our permission before He does something? It is likely that even if He chose to inform us of His plan or tried to explain it to us we wouldn't be able to understand all He is doing. Can we explain calculus to a pre-schooler? Heck, most of us grownups don't even understand how all the various parts and pieces of our vehicles work together so they can do what they are supposed to do. Which is what takes us wherever we want to go, whenever we want to go there (by the way, think of the blessing in that). A man we knew had just bought a different car. He said, “It's a good car. I turn it on and it goes. I turn it off and it stops.”
Our ways are not God's ways, nor are our thoughts God's thoughts. "'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways,' declares the Lord. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts,'" Isaiah 55:8-9 NASB. Our Lord's thoughts and ways are so much higher than ours that as high as the heavens are above the earth, that's how much higher His ways and thoughts are above ours. Just like a pre-schooler trying to understand calculus, we probably couldn't comprehend the depth and breadth of all that our Gracious Heavenly Father is doing, even if He laid it out for us. And that is just in our own life. Couple that with the lives of everyone else in our town, our county, our state and country, plus all the rest of the seven billion people here on planet earth. Anyone want God's job? Yeah, me neither.
Our God's ways are not our ways. And God's thoughts are not our thoughts. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts."
