Letter to the Editor 10-26-18

Dear editor,
I am going to vote for Alan LaPolice, the 1st District Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives. He grew up on a dairy farm in Washington County, served in the first Gulf War as an infantryman, and has worked as an educator, while keeping close ties with Kansas farmers.
Alan understands that exports of wheat, corn, soybeans and dairy products are essential to the prosperity of American agriculture, and that “tariff wars” undertaken by the Trump administration are ruinous.
Alan LaPolice advocates modeling the nation's health care system on the Defense Department's Tricare program, which achieves excellent outcomes for patients at the lowest cost through competition by providers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices (such as Epipens) and hospital procedures.
Like many Republican incumbents, 1st District Congressman Roger Marshall lives in fear of being on the receiving end of President Trump's mocking and fear. Marshall has taken the spineless path of “getting along by going along.” Trying to please “the Donald” is a fool's errand and has turned Republican members of Congress into accomplices of the President's irresponsible behavior.
When you vote for Alan LaPolice for the U.S. House of Representatives, you will be doing your part to restore prosperity on American farms and our place among the first rank of nations.
