Pilcher, Jr. received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado... CHS senior Darrel Appleby signed a letter of intent to attend Cloud County Community Junior College... Mrs. Thomas Campbell, Mrs. James Coppoc, Mrs. Wayne Spangler, Mrs. Devine Montoya and Mrs. David Wilson were hostesses when Faculty Wives had a picnic in City Park.

In an attempt to raise awareness about homelessness, some Concordia High School students spent the night in cardboard boxes at the Cloud County Fairgrounds... Concordia Junior High School students Lori Rittel and Jana Williams were members of the Volleytech Ice USVBA Junior Olympic Volleyball team that won a 40-team tournament in Lee's Summit, MO... Sarah Cairns, Cassandra Carter and Gena Kearns, members of Girls Scouts of Cadette Girls Scout Troop 891, earned Silver Awards in a ceremony at the Brown Grand Theater.
