The seven members of the Rotary group Study Exchange team from Japan that visited Concordia, serenaded the Concordia Rotary Club with several songs, including “Home on the Range,” sung in Japanese... high school seniors of the Concordia Trinity United Methodist church, including Luanna Beneda, Larry Erickson, Janet Goodwin, Jim Gould, Alan Logan, Sherry Loveland, Barbara Morgan, Cynthia Powell, and Mike Roberts were presented Bibles as gifts from the church... “The Big Gundown” was showing at Cloud 9 Drive In Theater.

Sandra Schnegg, France, and Maria Lario, Spain, had spent the school year at Concordia High School as exchange students... the annual County-Wide Residential Crusade for the American Cancer Society was winding down and had collected $2,335 so far... the Epsilon Pi of Beta Sigma Phi group voted to sponsor the Baby Show at the Cloud County Fair... “Clean Slate” was showing at the Apollo Theater.

Cloud County Historical Society received a grant from the Duclos Foundation to help pay for the “Whole Wall” project... Chris Hamilton, author of “The House Rules,” presented a copy of his book to Sue Dean, Concordia High School librarian... Rebecca Robbins set three new records in the 50-meter-dash, the 75-meter dash, and the 100-meter dash during the Concordia Middle School track and field meet at Harold M. Clark Stadium... wheat was selling at $6.37, corn was $3.81 and milo was $3.60 per bushel on local markets.

Because of threatening weather, 200 American flags did not fly at the Avenue of Flags in Concordia... 911 dispatcher Heidi Bower won $1,000 in a drawing at a Kansas Pipeline Association meeting... a non-denominational annual Memorial Service was conducted at the historic limestone Highland Church located between Concordia and Beloit on Highway #9... wheat was selling at $7.22, corn was $4.35 and milo was $4.26 per bushel on local markets.

Country music artist Jake Gill was the first performer in the 2018 Concert Series at the Broadway Plaza... Cloud County Community College students from Concordia completing degree requirements included Preston Allerheiligen, Faith Balthazor, Jamie Billings, Mariah Blazek, Karlie Blochlinger, Zoe Brichalli, Shaun Brooks, Ramion Burt, Jr., Jose Chacin, Melissa Davenport, Sherri Dickinson Hamiel, Mary Dobrinski, Daniela Duran-Saldivar, and Torin Fellows... wheat was selling at $5.27, corn was $3.61 and milo was $3.46 per bushel on local markets.
