September 5, 1969

Tom Pearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Pearson, had volunteered for two years work with the Peace Corp and was sent to Iran to do architectural work after two months of intensive language and cross cultural instruction in Morrison, Colo.... the Robert DeCormier Folk Singers and the Tucson Boys' Chorus were two of the tempting concert fare items offered to music lovers by the Concordia Community Concerts for the upcoming season... a November wedding was being planned for Miss Janet Marie Tieking and Jerry L Grant, both of Concordia.

Concordia firefighters raised $1,118.78 in about 6 hours to help in the battle against muscular dystrophy during the Fill the Boot fund drive... “Stalag Sunflower,” a historical video about Camp Concordia, the prisoner of war camp that was here during World War II, was available for viewing at the Frank Carlson Library... ABB Raymond Manufacturing, Concordia, hired Jevin Kasselman as an information systems supervisor... J.D. Grimm was the winner of the BBQ grill at the Close-Up Washington Garage Sale... Concordia High School class of 1942 met for dinner at Bobbie & Dots.

Judie Deal was spearheading a task force looking at public transportation in the city of Concordia... John and Robin Isaacson, owners of Heavy's Bar-B-Que cut the ribbon at a Concordia Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony... Concordia High School senior Gavin Koester finished in first place in the Panthers' Invitational cross country meet... Womack Ford had a Monster Truck at the dealership... Jeff Freed was a crossing guard at Concordia Elementary School... wheat was selling at $4.13, corn was $2.61, and milo was $2.71 per bushel on local markets.

Almost 20 years after talk first began of replacing the 20th Street dam at the south edge of Concordia, bids had been opened for the construction of the dam... Joni Bergstrom, a registered nurse at Cloud County Health Center, was a member of the 13th class of students graduating from the KHA Leadership Institute at the Critical Issues Summit in Wichita... wheat was selling at $5.76, corn was $3.06, and milo was $3.00 per bushel on local markets.

Members of the Cloud County board of commissioners, Sheriff Brian Marks, and Brad Berk of the Public Building Commission participated in a discussion, via telephone, with Wyatt Hoch, Foulston Siefken, LLP, on the repairs at the Cloud County Law Enforcement Center... water was coming into the Courthouse in the Community Corrections office... wheat was selling at $4.90, corn was $3.21, and milo was $2.96 per bushel on local markets.
