Concordia Lutheran Church contributes to LWR

The Concordia Lutheran Church and the Women of the ELCA participated in the ingathering of quilts, tied fleece blankets, school kits, fabric kits and personal care quilts for Lutheran World Relief (LWR).
Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina hosts the ingathering every October. There is a semi-trailer at the church for area Lutheran churches to drop off items to be taken to the LWR warehouse in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Concordia Lutheran Church collected 16 quilts and tied fleece blankets, 43 school kids, 31 personal care kits, 14 fabric kits and 2 pounds of soap.
During the “God's Work, Our Hands” Day on September 9, children and adults of the congregation helped assemble several of the fleece tied blankets, school kits and personal hygiene kits.
Lutheran World Relief began after World War II in 1945 to help those displaced by the war.
In 2017, LWR collected 319,710 quilts and blankets, 490 school kits, 153,560 personal care kits, 12,710 fabric kits and 27,770 pounds of soap for 21 countries in East and West Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, helping some of the world's poorest communities build the resilience they need to thrive.
Through LWR, the Concordia Lutheran Church is able to respond to God's call to send us out into the world to help our brothers and sisters living in poverty.
