S. Air Force in San Francisco, Calif.... among the 109 K-State students initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi scholarship honor society were Edward Detrixhe and Jayson Cyr... Mr. and Mrs. Keith Waters announced the birth of their daughter, Jennifer Marie... the Knit Shop was offering free knitting lessons for beginners.

Concordia Optimist Club donated $500 to the Concordia Youth Basketball program... David Byrd, a gymnastics coach for 20 years, was hired as gymnastics director and coach at the Concordia Gymnastics Center... Klaus and Alberta Jaeckel, Concordia, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in New Zealand... Ben Smith gave the New Horizon 4-H Club a presentation on what to do if one got stranded in a winter storm... Trudy Watson was elected as the new president of Sasnak Study Club.
