Mrs. Hugh Craig took 30 sixth grade music students to Salina where the students sang at the Intermediate Grade Department meeting of the Kansas State Teachers... Concordia football fans, including fathers of the Panther players, were urged to get their tickets for the Concordia Lions Club annual football banquet with speaker E.J. Holub, center on the Kansas City Chiefs professional football team... Mr. and Mrs. Averill Copple of Concordia, announced the engagement of their daughter, Shirley Ilene, to Nicholas Winters of Salina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Winters of Concordia.

The Cloud County board of commissioners voted to hire Pam Miller, RN, as the new county health administrator... the Concordia High School journalism class toured The Blade-Empire and learned about the AP satellite system from Brad Lowell... Sharon Bates, manager of Rite-Way Laundry & Dry Cleaners Inc. in Concordia, earned the title “Certified Environmental Drycleaner” after successfully passing a standard examination pertaining to the environmentally safe operation of drycleaning establishments.

The Sunflower Foundation gave a grant of $75,000 to the new Neighbor to Neighbor Center in  Concordia... Bryant Johnson, son of Ron and Shari Johnson, accepted membership in Golden Key International Honor Society and was honored during an induction ceremony at Kansas State University... the 3rd annual Mr. CHS, a beauty pageant where contestants are judged on talent, evening gown and interview to earn the title of Mr. CMS, took place in Concordia High School Auditorium... wheat was selling at $4.84, corn was $3.41, and milo was $3.34 per bushel on local markets.

A ribbon cutting marked the completion of Cloud County Community College's Substation Training Lab... the Brown Grand Theatre showed the documentary, “Being Ginger,” an illuminating look into the life of producer Scott P. Harris... the Heartland Chorus held an Americana themed concert at Cook Theatre... Concordia Middle School held their variety show at the Concordia High School Auditorium... wheat was selling at $5.57, corn was $3.23, and milo was $3.73 per bushel on local markets.

Concordian Tim Nicholson, racing his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, finished fifth in the points standings in the Super Gas division of the National Hot Rod Association... U.S. Senator Jerry Moran talked to students during a visit to the Concordia Junior-Senior High School... CHS student Paul Rundus was awarded the Keith Christensen Outstanding Senior Lineman Award... wheat was selling at $4.43, corn was $3.33, and milo was $2.92 per bushel on local markets.
