CCCC men win Ollie Isom Invitational

EL DORADO — The Cloud County Community College men's cross country team had seven of the top eight finishers on its way to easily winning the team title in the Ollie Isom Invitational Friday at Wartick Farm.
Cloud County finished with just 15 team points. Butler Community College was second with 53 and Dodge City Community College was third with 64.
Freshman Dais Malebana led the sweep of the top three places for Cloud County by winning the meet with a time of 14:46.9 on the 5K course.
Kwanele Mthembu finished second for the Thunderbirds in 15:10.7.
Saba Khvichava ran 15:25.0 to finish third.
Gabriel Chinya placed fifth for Cloud County in 16:03.6.
Ablel Gebreselase rounded out the top five for the T-Birds by finishing sixth in 16:10.9.
Habtamu Geta crossed in seventh place for the T-Birds in 16:23.2.
The Cloud County women had just four runners compete, and did not place as a team.
Freshman Kya Johnson ran 19:56.6 to place third for the T-Birds.
Maryse Mbenoun ran 20:33.2 to finish eighth.
Tanya Harcum placed 13th in 21:21.6.
Shackera Samuels was 29th in 28:36.7.
Michelle Sanchez, Butler, won the race in 19:01.0.
Cloud County will compete in the Region VI championships in Iola on Saturday.
