CCCC shuts out Garden City, 3-0

GARDEN CITY — Scoring three goals in a 22-minute stretch in the second half, the Cloud County Community College women's soccer team shut out Garden City Community College 3-0 in a Jayhawk Conference West Division matchup on Wednesday.
Cloud County, which has won 12 straight matches, is now 12-2 overall and 10-0 and in first place in the Jayhawk West.
Garden City falls to 1-13 overall and 1-9 in conference play.
Cloud County got off 15 shots in the first half, but was unable to find the back of the net.
The match was still scoreless through the first 23 minutes of the second half.
The Thunderbirds finally broke through with an unassisted goal by Mariana Lima in the 69th minute.
Just over six minutes later, Izabella Christiana Mine scored her 17th goal of the season to give Cloud County a 2-0 lead.
A goal by Fanciele Cupertino, off an assist from Gabriela Vargas, extended the T-Birds' lead to 3-0.
Cloud County finished with a season high 50 shots, including 32 on goal.
Garden City had just three shots, one on goal.
Thaynara Soares posted the shutout for the T-Birds. She had one save.
Garden City's Kaylee Keller made 26 saves.
Cloud County will host Barton Community College next Wednesday.
