Chevrolet/Buick, Lions win openers

Concordia Chevrolet/Buick and Concordia Lions posted wins on the opening night of Peewee Baseball play Wednesday at the Concordia Sports Complex.
Scoring 11 runs in the second and third innings combined, Chevrolet/Buick defeated the Knights of Columbus, 14-1.
The Lions shut out the American Legion, 13-0.
The Knights of Columbus took a 1-0 lead on Chevrolet/Buick in the top of the first inning.
Chevrolet/Buick answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Sending 10 batters to the plate, Chevrolet/Buick put up six runs on three hits and four walks in the second inning, and led 9-1.
Chevrolet/Buick tacked on five runs in the third inning.
The game ended after three innings because of the 10-run rule.
Kale Schroeder was the winning pitcher for Chevrolet/Buick. He did not allow a hit, struck out seven and walked three.
Baylor Knox, Boone Richard and Drew Sterrett scored three runs each for Chevrolet/Buick.
The Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the American Legion in the first inning.
Five runs in the second inning gave the Lions an 8-0 advantage.
Sending 11 batters to the plate, the Lions added five runs in the fourth inning to make it 13-0.
Four pitchers combined on a no-hitter for the Lions including Maddox Frey, Chane Parker, Drake Blochlinger and Logan Jackson.
Frey and Jackson scored three runs each.
