CHS edges Abilene in league dual

ABILENE — In a North Central Kansas League dual that wasn't decided until the final horn had sounded, the Concordia Panthers edged the Abilene Cowboys 33-32 on Thursday night.
Concordia grabbed a 33-19 lead in the dual, and held on over the final three matches to pick up the win and to improve to 3-0 in the league and 4-0 overall.
The Panthers recorded victories in the first three matches.
Sajen Kemling won a decision over Christopher McClanhan in the 106-pound class.
Jordan Anguish pinned Cooper Wuthnow in the 113-pound class.
Koby Tyler, 120 pounds, defeated Kaleb Stroda.
The Panthers then dropped three consecutive matches.
Braxton Kindel lost by fall to Will Stroda in the 126-pound class.
Daniel Vines, 132-pounds, lost by decision to Braden Wilson.
Toby Wahlmeier, 138 pounds, was pinned by Javan Welsh.
Cade Anderson picked up a win in the 145-pound class for Concordia by pinning Eli Schubert.
Nathan Brown lost a major decision to Jackson Randles in the 152-pound class, and Abilene had a 19-18 lead.
Concordia then posted three straight wins to go back on top.
Layton Kindel won a decision over Trenton Wuthnow in the 160-pound class.
Keyan Miller, 170 pounds, pinned Luke Hagar.
Hunter Schroeder won by forfeit in the 182-pound class to give the Panthers the 33-19 cushion.
Robert Trost was pinned by Abilene's Colby Mohr in the 195-pound class.
Shelby Giersch, 220 pounds, lost by major decision to Brandon Parker.
Dalton Owen lost by decision to Adam Henley.
Concordia split a pair of junior varsity matches.
Kassidy Leiszler pinned Abilene's Skyleigh Pflaster.
Bergun Kindel lost by fall to Tristan Randles.
Concordia had three wrestlers place first in the Nickerson JV/CKL Girls Invitational on Tuesday.
Leiszler went 3-0 to finish first in the girls' 109-pound class.
Torxsten Kindel placed first in the 113-pound class. He was 2-0.
Braxton Kindel won five consecutive matches to finish first in the 126-pound class.
Concordia had Bergun Kindel place fourth in the 126-pound class.
Gunnar Hale finished fourth in the 220-pound class.
Concordia is competing in the Beloit Invitational today and Saturday.
