CHS finishes second in own tournament

A second loss to Smith Center left the Concordia High School volleyball team in second place in the invitational tournament it hosted on Saturday.
Concordia's lone loss in pool play was to Smith Center.
The two teams would meet again in the championship match.
Smith Center swept the Panthers, 25-14, 25-22.
Shaina Wright led Concordia with six kills in the match.
Terryl Loeffler had three kills and three blocks.
Kendall Reynolds finished with 15 service aces and five digs.
“Overall we played well at times,” Concordia coach Alison Widen said, “I thought we came out strong to get a win back from both Marysville and Beloit. However, we are not satisfied with second place, and we are looking forward to next week's competition.”
Concordia (20-9) downed Beloit in straight sets in the semifinals, 25-21, 25-14.
Chloe Conway racked up 13 kills in the win, and had five digs.
Taegen Larsen had six kills and six digs.
Loeffler added five kills and six digs.
Reynolds had 27 assists.
Concordia opened pool play with a 25-17, 25-13 victory over Riley County.
Conway led the way with nine kills.
Larsen had six kills and eight digs.
Terin Rundus had four kills and four digs.
Reynolds had 17 assists, four blocks and five digs.
Zoe Bechard had eight digs.
The Panthers then fell in three sets to Smith Center, 31-29, 18-25, 25-11.
Larsen had 12 kills, four digs and three service aces.
Conway and Wright had nine kills and three blocks each.
Reynolds had 26 assists and seven digs.
Bechard finished with nine digs.
Concordia bounced back to defeat Republic County, 25-15, 25-14.
Larsen led the way with 13 kills.
Conway added eleven kills.
Loeffler and Wright had four kills each.
Reynolds had 24 assists.
Concordia finished 3-1 in pool play by downing Marysville in two sets, 25-10, 25-22.
Larsen had a team high 10 kills.
Conway had five kills.
Reynolds finished with 18 assists, six digs and six service aces.
Bechard had seven digs.
The Panthers will play a pair of North Central Kansas League matches at Chapman on Tuesday.
