CHS girls finish eighth at Ellsworth

ELLSLWORTH — Competing in the second of three meets in a span of eight days, the Concordia High School girl's track and field team placed ninth in the Ellsworth Invitational on Tuesday.
Concordia opened the season by hosting its own invitational last Friday, and will participate in the Smoky Valley Invitational this coming Friday.
The Panthers scored 32 points in the meet.
Kiowa County narrowly won the girl's team title with 103 points. Thomas More Prep-Marian was second with 103 points and Minneapolis was third with 61.
The Concordia boys placed ninth with 19 points.
Hoisington won the meet with 99 points. Thomas More Prep was second with 89 and Pratt was third with 87.
“We are kind of taking the approach of training through track meets,” Concordia Austin Kingsbury said, “We want to really load them up and get them used to the events they are competing in. We were pleased with the effort.”
The Panther girls had Emma Wahlmeier place second in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.35 and third in the 100 in 13.38.
Concordia's 4x100 relay team of Wahlmeier, Sierra Gropp, Terin Rundus and Katlynn Miller placed fifth in 52.99.
Rundus finished fourth in the javelin (100-9) and Teggan Workman was sixth (100-1).
Jordan Gilkeson placed fifth in the triple jump (32-6) and Miller was sixth (30-4 ½).
Concordia's 4x400 relay team of Gropp, Rundus, Wahlmeier and Ava Swihart finished fifth (4:31.14).
Swihart placed sixth in the high jump (4-6) and Gropp was sixth in the 200 dash (28.03).
Gilkeson, Rundus, Elizabeth Duvall and Tessa Christensen finished sixth in the 4x800 relay (12:54.88).
The Concordia boys had Oakley Champlin place third in the discus with a toss of 120-7. Alex Bonebrake was sixth (114-11).
Concordia's 4x100 relay team of Dalton Long, Kyle Palmquist, Dylan Thoman and Keyan Miller finished fourth (46.85).
Miller was sixth in the 200 dash (24.29).
Beau Bonebrake placed fifth in the javelin (146-8).
Zane Reed finished sixth in the 800-meter run (2:21.72).
Cav Carlgren placed sixth in the high jump (5-6).
The Panther's 4x800r relay team of Carlgren, Alexis Garcia, Sajen Kemling and Austin Killian was sixth (10:06).
