CHS golfers place fifth in league

WAMEGO — The Concordia High School golf team, led by senior Paul Rundus, finished fifth in the North Central Kansas League tournament Monday at Wamego Country Club.
Rundus shot a 39 on the front nine and a 44 on the back to post an 83 and place seventh individually.
Concordia finished with a four-man score of 387.
Wamego, with six players placing in the top eight individually, easily won the the tournament with a score of 324. Marysville was second with a 376 and Clay Center was third with a 380.
Hayden Dvorak carded a 93 for Concordia.
Braxton Kindel finished with a 95 and Treyon Kindel rounded out the top four with a 116.
Concordia had Austin Krier shoot a 128.
“We started out well, but were unable to finish strong,” Concordia coach Gene Rundus said, “Being just a few strokes out of medaling third as a team wasn't fun, but I think it will serve us well as we head to regionals in Hoisington next Monday. We played the front nine twice because of the storms that were forecast, and just got the tournament in before the skies opened up.”
Jackson Rader, Marysville, was the individual medalist with an 80.
