CHS JV places second in quad
Kaitlen Riley and Trinity Wilcox went unbeaten in number one doubles in leading the Concordia High School junior varsity girls' tennis team to a second-place finish in the quadrangular it hosted on Tuesday.
Riley and Wilcox defeated Abilene 6-0, Smoky Valley 6-1 and Beloit 6-1 to capture first place in number one doubles for Concordia.
The Panthers scored 23 points in the meet.
Smoky Valley won the meet with 27 points.
Concordia got second-place finishes from Liz Duvall in number one singles, Teryn Tracy in number two singles and Karlee Wahlmeier and Ayla Collins in number two doubles.
Duvall opened with a 6-0 win over Dighton Tokoi, Abilene. She fell 6-1 to Hannah Reed, Smoky Valley, and then downed Taysja Sevilla, Beloit, 6-2.
Tracy knocked off Alyssa Tompkins, Abilene, in the first round. She suffered a narrow 6-5 loss to Karee Adam, Smoky Valley, and then blanked MaKenna Kohler, Beloit, 6-0.
Wahlmeier and Collins shut out Abilene 6-0, lost 6-1 to Smoky Valley and got past Beloit, 6-4.
