CHS places third in league

The Concordia High School tennis team placed third in the North Central Kansas League tournament it hosted on Friday.
Getting a second-place finish from Isaac Bombardier in number two singles and third-place finishes from Elijah Steffen in number one singles and Ismael Perez and Christian Redmond in number two doubles, Concordia scored 19 points.
Abilene claimed the team title with 37 points. Marysville was second with 31.
“I am super proud of these guys. Everyone battled hard and got points for the team,” Concordia coach Michael Wahlmeier said.
Bombardier shut out Harrison Heigele, Marysville, 8-0 in his opening meet.
Jaylen West, Abilene, handed Bombardier his lone defeat, 8-3.
Bombardier downed Trevon Snyder, Chapman, 8-1 and Garrett Drey, Marysville, 8-3.
Steffen opened with a 8-0 victory over Lucas Sullivan, Clay Center. He fell 8-3 to Wyatt Davis, Abilene; defeated Jacob Doolittle, Chapman 8-1; and lost to Dalton Denner, Marysville, 8-2.
Perez and Redmond posted an 8-1 win over Clay Center's number two doubles team. They were beaten 8-1 by Abilene, knocked off Chapman 8-4 and were defeated 8-2 by Marysville.
Eric Grogan and Keegan Grogan finished fourth in number one doubles for the Panthers. They lost 8-5 to Clay Center and 8-0 to Abilene, downed Chapman 8-1 and lost 8-0 to Marysville.
Concordia will play in the Class 3-2-1A regional tournament, hosted by Bishop Seabury Academy, in Lawrence on Friday.
