CJHS track teams open at Smith Center

SMITH CENTER — The Concordia Junior High School track and field teams opened their season at the Smith Center Invitational on Thursday.
The Concordia eighth grade girls placed second in the meet with 101 points.
Beloit finished first with 106 points and Ellsworth was third with 97.
The Concordia seventh grade boys finished third with 78 points.
Beloit won the meet with 108.5 points. Ellsworth was second with 106.
Scoring 79.5 points, the Concordia eighth grade boys finished fourth.
Republic County claimed the team title with 123 points. Beloit was second with 115 and Ruppenthal Middle School was third with 83.5.
The Concordia seventh grade girls scored 69 points and placed fourth.
Smith Center was first with 94 points. Minneapolis was second with 78 and Beloit was third with 77.
The Concordia eighth grade girls had three first-place finishes.
Jaida Koester won the 800-meter run in 2:33.90.
Concordia was first in the 4x400 relay in 4:58.60 and the 4x200 in 2:06.82.
Kassidy Bowers placed second in the 100-meter dash (14.44), the 200-meter dash (30.78) and the long jump (13.2 ½).
Georgia Trost was sixth in the long jump (11-3).
Belle Chavey placed second in the triple jump (27-11) and third in the 100-meter hurdles (18.75).
Cianna DeLeon was second in the discus (69-3), fourth in the shot put (30-1)  and fifth in the 200-meter hurdles (39.07).
Concordia was second in the 4x100 relay (56.85).
Sarah Blochlinger finished third in the shot put (30-6 ½), fifth in the discus (67-1) and sixth in the javelin (71-3).
The Concordia eighth grade boys had Aceyn Cash and Alec Francis win two events each.
Cash was first in the 800-meter run (2:21.60) and the 1,600-meter run (5:11.31). He also tied for fifth in the high jump (5-0).
Alan Garcia finished fourth in the 800 (5:34.61).
Francis placed first in the triple jump (37-3/4) and 100 hurdles (16.06).
Adam Plymesser was sixth in the 100 hurdles (18.64).
Dakota Brockman won the javelin (125-7).
Billy Wahlmeier finished third in the 3,200-meter run (13:11.00).
Concordia placed third in the 4x200 relay (1:50.02) and the 4x100 (54.92) and was fourth in the 4x400 (4:30.64).
Bergun Kindel finished sixth in the pole vault (6-0).
The Concordia seventh grade girls had Carlie Carlgren win two events.
Carlgren was first in the 100 hurdles (19.07) and the triple jump (26-8). She was second in the 200 dash (30.15).
Abbigale Peterson was fourth in the triple jump (24-7 ¾) and third in the 400 dash (1:10.39).
Hattie Blackwood placed second in the discus (61-11) and Lacie Duvall was sixth (54-2).
Concordia placed second in the 4x100 relay (58.36) and the 4x400 (5:20.64) and fourth in the 4x200 (2:13.35).
Megan Barr placed sixth in the 800-meter run (3:04.70), as well as in the 1,600 (6:48.73).
The Concordia seventh grade boys had two first-place finishes.
Joey Henderson won the high jump (4-8) and was second in the triple jump (30-7 ¼).
Braden Primeaux placed first in javelin (105-2).
Keegun Beims finished second in the discus (85-1).
Wyatt Franz placed second in the 3,200-meter run (14:21.90).
Concordia finished second in the 4x200 relay (1:59.55), third in the 4x100 (55.80) and third in the 4x400 (4:51.64).
Cody Trost placed fourth in the 100 hurdles (19.58) and sixth in the 100 dash (14.51).
Lewis VanMeter finished sixth in the 1,600 run (6:10.11).
