CJHS wrestlers compete in Battle at the Bend
GREAT Bend — The Concordia Junior High School wrestling team competed in the Battle of the Bend on Saturday.
Concordia opened the dual tournament wit a 54-48 loss to Dodge City.
Christian Belden, 75 pounds; Wade Kindel, 85 pounds; Koby Tyler, 90 pounds; Cody Trost, 95 pounds; Daniel Vines, 120 pounds; and Gunnar Hale, 215 pounds, won their matches by fall for Concordia.
Connor Novak, 80 pounds, won by forfeit.
Concordia was beaten 63-42 by Newton.
Novak, Kindel, Tyler, Vines and Ashton Dooley, 105 pounds, recorded pins for the Panthers.
Belden and Trost won by forfeit.
Concordia suffered a 57-30 loss to Hays.
Vines, Hale and Chayton Alquist-Pennell, 148 pounds, won by fall.
Belden beat Cooper Sanders, 2-0.
Kindel defeated Corbin Luck, 4-0.
Dustin Sterrett, 127 pounds, won by forfeit.
Garden City pulled out a 49-48 win over Concordia in the final dual.
Kindel, Vines, Alquist-Pennell and Hale won by fall.
Belden, Tyler and Novak won by forfeit.
Concordia will wrap up its season with the North Central Kansas League tournament Friday at Clay Center.
