Cloud County finishes 0-4 in KJCCC Duals

COLBY — The Cloud County Community College wrestling team finished up 0-4 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Duals hosted by Colby Community College on Sunday and Monday.
Cloud County fell 33-12 to 17th-ranked Neosho County Community College and 35-12 to Labette Community College on Sunday and 28-23 to 22nd-ranked Pratt Community College and 35-9 to 17th-ranked Cowley College.
The Thunderbirds got wins by Blake Leiszler, Kevin Murry and Elwin Trejo in the loss to Neosho.
Leiszler defeated Kolton Smith 5-1 in the 133-pound class.
Murry, 197 pounds, pinned Dylan Newton.
Trejo won a 5-1 decision over Brandon Barrager in the 285-pound class.
Blayne Harris, ranked eighth in the 125-pound class, gave Cloud County an early 3-0 lead against Labette by defeating Jacob Roberson, 3-0.
Labette would win the next three matches.
Cloud County's Tristin Hauck won a 10-1 major decision over Vernell Hawkins in the 157-pound class.
Posting four consecutive wins, Labette led 35-6.
Trejo won by forfeit.
Cloud County fell behind Pratt, 4-0.
Leiszler defeated Max Bazan 9-2 and Aiden Connors pinned Jacob Mitchell to put the T-Birds up 9-4.
Pratt was open at 157 and 165, but won four of six matches, and led 28-21.
Trejo won a 7-5 decision over Darius Wilkins to make the final 28-24.
Harris defeated Corwin Strachan in the dual against Cowley.
Leiszler won a narrow 7-6 decision over Austin Kincaid.
Cloud County also had Nate Normandin get past Gabriel Capp in the 149-pound class.
The T-Birds will compete in the NJCAA West-Central District Tournament on February 22 in Miami, Okla.
